My Vote Counts! The Citizens’ Initiative positions on work and social security:
- We are in favour of providing a basic income, so that everyone in the Netherlands has a dignified existence. Providing a basic income can also act as a catalyst for greatly simplifying our tax system.
- Working must pay off. That’s why we are in favour of more tax on wealth instead of tax on work.
- The economy and education must be addressed together, in much closer connection. The world is changing fast, but education hasn’t kept up. The current education system needs a thorough overhaul and must grow along with future developments. That starts with a solid foundation in arithmetic, reading and writing. Teach general knowledge once a child is ready for it. The importance of technology, ICT and AI must be given far more attention in education. So, learning to code and getting acquainted with new technology at a young age, to prepare today’s youth for the future.
- With humanistic ethics as our guiding principle, we have an eye for everyone, including the more vulnerable in our society. Since anyone could, at some point, belong to this group.
