A reliable government keeps its agreements within a reasonable time
Trust in the government/politics has been historically low for years. Citizens must be able to trust their government. That’s why the government must do what it promises. In simple terms, that means keeping agreements within a reasonable time. My Vote Counts! The Citizens’ Initiative states that enshrining a binding citizens’ referendum in the Constitution will evidently increase trust in politics. The victims of the childcare benefits scandal and of the earthquake damage in Groningen must be compensated in the next cabinet term. Reliable and steadfast governance is absolutely crucial to citizens’ trust.
